The pucks are probably fine for most people, but if you want to create a really solid wifi network with hardwired access points, and/or managed switches, and/or have a large number of devices connected to the network at once, and/or want WiFi 6, then you have the option to use your own router without any hassle (only on the 1Gb plan!)
